Myth maker

A THEORETICAL, PRACTICAL, AND EMBODIED EXPLORATION INTO HOW WE SHAPE MYTH AND HOW MYTH SHAPES US

Learn the Jungian theoretical foundations of archetypal wisdom and mythic intelligence.

Practice how to utilize myth as a way of understanding and shaping our own story from an Animist approach.

Experience mythic telling in community and learn to hold mythic spaces for others

This course is designed both for those who wish to deepen their relationship to the symbolic and the mythic in their day to day lives, and those who wish to learn how to more effectively weave mythic intelligence into their holding space for others (parents, therapists, counsellors, coaches, doulas, etc.)

Each module will consist of an in person 4.5 hour intensive at a given location in Johannesburg, a 2 hour online teaching call, weekly self-paced reflective prompts and exercises, and two 1 hour individual sessions with me during the course of the 4 months to track how your own story is being moved by the presented work. You will also receive an info pack with chosen chapters and journal articles for your own further learning.

This course thus amounts to a total of 28 active contact hours and 16 self-paced hours. This intake will host a minimum of 5 and a maximum of 12 people

Module 1: Kindling

in person session 15 March (Autumn Equinox)

Gathering around our first fire as storytellers, this module explores the basic theories of myth as medicine and the importance of passing myth down from stone to river to ear to mouth to ear to mouth.

Module 2: Beholding

in person session 19 April

This module deepens into how we relate to the mythic world around us and how narrative structures may inform our own healing and transformative processes.

Module 3: Courting

in person session 24 May

This module offers the opportunity to connect to your own inner Archetypal storyteller and to experience various techniques of engaging with mythic practice and the sharing of stories.

Module 4: Wintering

in person session 21 June (Winter Solstice)

Gathering around our closing fire, this module integrates and celebrates our own inner mythic landscapes and provides the space to dream into how myth and story might move in your own personal and professional life.

R4500: earliest of the early birds and student rate (until 31 December)

R5000: second to wake (until 31 January)

R5750: full payment/ paying it forward (payable over 3 installments)
